Prepare for Spring Courses and FARs

Fall 2022 Faculty Update

As you prepare your spring Shared Programs course or your Faculty Activity Report, instructional designers are available to support you. We have strategies and tools relevant to your work across the Commonwealth. Below you will see a few highlighted resources and we are glad to work individually with you. Feel free to contact us!

Prepare for Spring Courses

Shared Programs Course Prep

Courses shared across the Commonwealth require unique preparation. As you design your classes and explore related professional development, you are ensuring that the programs are of the highest quality.

Course Templates and Teaching Strategies

The Shared Programs Canvas course shell includes templates for syllabi covering multiple campuses, home page layouts, and more. Additionally, there are hybrid teaching strategies to promote student success.

Consultations with Instructional Designers

Instructional designers are available to discuss the challenges and opportunities particular to shared courses. We can help you align learning objectives with course activities and the latest technology. Learn more about what we offer here.

Prepare for FARs

Faculty Activity Report Prep

Consider these professional development opportunities that will refine your teaching in the Shared Programs, and are noteworthy on Faculty Activity Reports.

Teaching Online Program

The Teaching Online Program (TOP) is an asynchronous training series relevant to online or hybrid teaching. Each course includes modules on Canvas, multimedia tools, design, and best practices. Each level has a badge or certificate that may be earned. Faculty may record it in Activity Insight under Research and Scholarly Activity, as recommended by the Office of the Vice President of the Commonwealth Campuses. Any application of TOP training may be described in Research and Creative Accomplishments, under New Course or Program Development or New Method of Teaching an Established Course/Program.
